The 12mm TCMT tool set is the starting tool set every hobbyist needs. This kit is arguably the best starter kit for lathe turning because you have both a LH and RH OD tool and a boring bar! The great thing about TCMT inserts is their flexibility. The acute angled tips allow for getting into tight shoulders and machining a square edge, chamfering ends and shoulders, as well as providing a great finish on internal and external faces. Whilst your depth of cut and feed rate may be less than other tools (i.e. WNMG), the TCMT tool kit is the most cost effective kit to start on.
